Molasses is a thick dark brown liquid which is the by-product of the sugar refining industry.
With high sugar and low protein content, molasses is also known to have excellent palatability for all classes of livestock.
Molasses also helps with rumen digestion which is important for either a grass based
diet or when blending high dry matter feeds such as dairy meals, grains, hay etc.
When feeding molasses the cow can use the energy obtained from molasses
for increased milk solid production and/or maintenance.
Other benefits of molasses include stimulating appetite, promoting animal health and maximising days in milking.
